3 On May 31 of this year, as part of the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Protection, the 7th session was held on the topic 'Glacier Monitoring Needs Worldwide (TS7)'. The event featured key leaders and sectoral experts from the Agency for Hydrometeorology, along with representatives from universities, academic institutions, and renowned international organizations.
During the session, the Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology, Mr. Qurbonzoda A.H., and the Deputy Head of the Glaciology Center, Mr. Nazirzoda K., delivered speeches in which they discussed the Agency’s long-term cooperation with the World Meteorological Organization, as well as the modernization of the national observation network, the implementation of modern climate service standards, the development of an early warning system, and the enhancement of professional training in meteorology, hydrology, and climate sciences.
Additionally, the session participants discussed the expansion of the glaciological network, strengthening human capacity in this field, the exchange of glaciological and cryospheric information, and the technical equipment of glaciological stations. Special emphasis was placed on the need to transform the Gorbunov Hydrometeorological Station into the International Gorbunov Station.
