Dushanbe, 21 August 2026. — A practical workshop on the Transient Hydrologic Anomalies Weekly (THAW) tool was held at the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The workshop focused on strengthening capacities for the effective detection and monitoring of newly formed and anomalously changing mountain lakes.

As part of the fruitful cooperation between the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Tajikistan, three automated weather stations have been installed and commissioned in the Kofarnihon River Basin under the project “Integrated Landscape Approach to Enhance Climate Resilience among Smallholder Farmers and Pastoralists in Tajikistan.” The stations are located in Tartki (Shahritus District), Sardai-Miyona (Vahdat City), and Elok (Rudaki District).

From 10 to 13 August this year, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI), conducted a training session on the “Smartmet” software, with the active participation of specialists from the relevant field.

On 18 August 2026, at the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with development partners, an International Scientific and Practical Conference was held on the theme “The 35th Anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan: Development and Strengthening of Hydrometeorological Monitoring and Glacier Preservation under Climate Change.” The event brought together representatives of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, state ministries and agencies, scientists and experts in the fields of water resources and climate, representatives of international organizations, financial institutions, development partners, and the mass media.

In order to fulfill the instructions and directives of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, increasing public participation in sports, and strengthening the health of the population, a morning exercise session and a recreational walk were held on 15 August 2026 at the waterfall located within the State Institution “Navruzgoh” under the Executive Body of State Power of Dushanbe.
