On June 4, 2026, as part of the action plan of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, a departmental training session was held on the topic “The global significance of the initiatives of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon, in the fields of water resources, climate, and glacier conservation,” with the broad participation of the Agency’s staff.
The main objective of the training was to enhance the knowledge and awareness of staff regarding the international initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan in the fields of water resources, climate, and glacier conservation, as well as their role in addressing global environmental challenges and strengthening international cooperation in the rational use of water resources.
During the training, sectoral specialists of the Agency presented their reports dedicated to the global initiatives of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon. In particular, they comprehensively reviewed issues related to the proclamation of the International Year of Freshwater (2003), the International Decade for Action “Water for Life” (2005–2015), the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” (2018–2028), as well as the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Glacier Preservation.
The participants emphasized that the initiatives of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon, have received international recognition as timely and significant measures that contribute to drawing the attention of the global community to issues related to water resources, climate change, glacier conservation, and sustainable development. At the same time, the key role of these initiatives in strengthening international cooperation and advancing the global water and climate agenda was particularly highlighted.
The substantive discussions and exchange of views among the participants demonstrated that such training events play an important role in enhancing professional knowledge, strengthening environmental culture, and fostering a sense of responsibility for environmental protection and natural resource conservation.
