The Meteorological Agency of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has launched an air quality website, https://airquality.meteo.tj, where citizens can find detailed information on the current state of air quality in the country in Tajik, Russian, and English.
Currently, automatic air quality monitoring devices have been installed in nine regions of the country, including six in Dushanbe at the S. Ayni Cultural and Recreational Park, Rudaki Avenue, the S. Umarov Institute of Physics and Technology of the National Academy of Sciences, the International Presidential School, and villages 65 and 103, as well as three in the cities of Kulob, Vahdat, and Hisor.
The online portal https://airquality.meteo.tj contains a map of equipment locations, air quality data in the form of graphs showing particles 10 microns in size (Pm-10) and 2.5 microns in size (Pm2.5) to determine the air quality index, as well as recommendations and information.
The website provides citizens with the following information:
1. An air quality website displaying the global air quality index, air quality status, the concentration of particles 2.5 microns in size (Pm-2.5), and meteorological factors (temperature, wind speed, and humidity);
2. A list of observation points displaying the concentration of particles up to 2.5 and 10 microns in size (Pm-2.5), (Pm-10), and the air quality index;
3. A map of the locations of air quality observation points in the republic;
4. Air quality data in graphical form, showing particles up to 2.5 microns (PM-2.5) and 10 microns (PM-10);
5. Assessment of observation points, indicating the air quality index, as well as PM-2.5 and PM-10 concentrations;
6. Health recommendations for those at risk of air pollution;
7. Additional air quality information.
It should be noted that an average air quality index (AQI) was determined using data from nine regions of the country, and the map displays a universal indicator based on actual air quality conditions. This portal is the only source where the accuracy of air quality assessments in the Republic of Tajikistan is determined using global models.
