On 13 August 2026, a meeting was held between Mr. Qurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo, Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in the Republic of Tajikistan Denise Lüthi Crisan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for further cooperation in the areas of hydrometeorology, climate change, monitoring of hazardous hydrometeorological phenomena, and strengthening the resilience of the Republic of Tajikistan to the impacts of climate change.
Representatives of the Agency briefed the participants on the current activities of the national hydrometeorological service, its priority areas for development, as well as planned projects aimed at modernizing infrastructure and improving observation, forecasting, and early warning systems.
Particular attention was paid to strengthening the Agency’s institutional capacity, improving its technical and technological capabilities, advancing digital technologies, and promoting knowledge and experience exchange with international partners.
During the discussions, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation and strengthening the exchange of information on key areas of mutual interest. It was emphasized that continued cooperation would contribute to strengthening the hydrometeorological sector, enhancing its institutional capacity, and improving the effectiveness of its activities in the Republic of Tajikistan.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain regular dialogue and explore opportunities to expand cooperation within the framework of relevant international programmes and development projects.
