On 18 September 2026, at the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, a consultative seminar was held under the Project “Glacier Melt Management and Water Security”, focusing on the specific aspects of the activities of the Electronic Equipment Repair Laboratory.
Opening the seminar, Deputy Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology U.S. Abdullozoda noted that the implementation of the Project “Glacier Melt Management and Water Security” creates opportunities to significantly enhance the knowledge and professional skills of the Agency’s specialists, as well as to strengthen its institutional and technical capacity, thereby contributing to improved water resources management and glacier monitoring.
During the event, relevant specialists delivered presentations on the results achieved under the Project “Glacier Melt Management and Water Security”. Information was also provided on the Japan Fund for Prosperity and Resilience in Asia and the Pacific, through whose financial support the project is being implemented by the Asian Development Bank.
As part of the consultative seminar, the participants were introduced to the activities of the Electronic Equipment Repair Laboratory, which was established at the Agency for Hydrometeorology under the project, as well as its technical capabilities and role in ensuring the accuracy of hydrometeorological observations.
Following the seminar, the participants visited the laboratory and familiarized themselves with its equipment, operations, and technical capabilities. They also put forward useful proposals and recommendations aimed at further improving the laboratory’s activities and enhancing the quality of the technical services provided.
It should be noted that the activities of such laboratories play an important role in ensuring the reliability of hydrometeorological information and strengthening the technical capacity of the country’s hydrometeorological system.
