Holding a side event "Roadmap 2025 - as an international year of protection of glaciers" in the Pavilion of the Republic of Tajikistan on the margins of COP27

On 14 November this year, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in the margins of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm-El-Sheikh (Egypt) held a side event on "Roadmap 2025 - as an international year of protection of glaciers".

 At the event, the Head of the International Relations Department of the Agency K. Ruziev spoke on "Roadmap 2025 - as an international year of protection of glaciers", on "Monitoring, forecasting and protection of mountain cryosphere" by Professor John Pomeroy, Director of the Hydrology Centre, University of Saskatchewan, Canada, on "Melting cryosphere in the mountains, highlands and water resources sustainability" by Dr. Koen Werbist "UNESCO". The event was a global, regional and sub-regional discussion on the protection of Tajikistan's glaciers as the main source of fresh water in Central Asia.

       It is worth noting that at this event Qurbonzoda A.H., Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Elena Manaenkova - Deputy Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Shumakov Igor Anatolyevich - Head of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation and Ms. Amy Dushel, Senior Research Officer of the Climate Change, Energy and Ecology Group of the Russian Federation and Ms. Amy Dushel, Senior Scientist of the Climate Change, Energy and Low-Carbon Development Group of the Center for International Forestry Research (FAO) (CIFOR) in Indonesia participated and discussed issues.
