On May 18-19 of the current year at the Agency for Hydrometeorology for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan with the participation of experts from the Finnish Meteorological Institute a training seminar on "System of forecasting air quality -SILAM" was held with the participation of industry experts.
The expert of the Finnish Meteorological Institute Katja Lowen during the training seminar informed about the work of the system and evaluated its activities in a number of developed countries of the world. The specialists of the region got acquainted with the work of this system, provision and processing of daily data, development of air quality maps, development of air quality forecasts, provision of information on the state of atmospheric air pollution and other aspects of this forecasting system.
It should be noted that this forecasting system is activated based on data from automated air quality stations and develops air quality maps in different regions based on the processed data.
