On December 11, 2023, within the framework of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-28), the Agency for Hydrometeorology, in cooperation with the World Meteorological Organization, held a parallel event on the theme "Roadmap - 2025: International Year of Glacier Protection” and "Climate Change and its Impact on the Cryosphere" with the participation of representatives of the World Meteorological Organization, UNESCO, the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the International Institute of Climate and Cryosphere (ICCI), the British of Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI) and Climate Change and Sustainability, UNDP in Nepal and other stakeholders.
At the event, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to WMO, the National Coordinator of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Qurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo made an introductory speech and expressed his opinion on the global initiative of the Founder of peace and national unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic Tajikistan, The Respected Emomali Rahmon in the field of glacier protection, water resources and climate.
During this event, the ”Roadmap for 2025 as the International Year of Glacier Protection", the organization of international expeditions with development partners on the glaciers of the Republic of Tajikistan, the involvement of sponsors in the field of glacier protection and ways of participation of donors and experts were considered.
