The seminar on "Vulnerability assessment of six priority sectors and development of sectoral adaptation plans"

On July 11-12 of this year, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Environmental Protection Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with a consulting company (CIVITTA) and a consulting company (CAICO), with financial support from the UNDP Green Climate Fund, held a seminar "Vulnerability assessment of six priority sectors and development of sectoral adaptation plans" in Gissar. The participants of the seminar are government agencies and organizations working in the field of adaptation and climate change in the Gissar district.

The purpose of the seminar is to provide government agencies and international organizations with a summary of the state of climate processes in order to ensure a thorough and effective approach to adaptation measures necessary to assess vulnerability to climate change in six key sectors of the Gissar district, such as agriculture, transport, water resources, energy, forestry and construction industry. Vulnerability assessments conducted for six priority sectors will also become part of the document of the National Adaptation Plan of the Republic of Tajikistan. During the two-day seminar, the impact of climate change on these priority key sectors of the economy of the Gissar district was discussed and data was collected by international experts for use in the preparation of sectoral adaptation plans. In the future, the plans will be submitted to key agencies for review and approval, as well as submitted to the Government of Tajikistan.
