On September 11 of this year, in Penjikent, Sughd region, within the framework of the Action Plan of the National Unity and Renaissance Movement of Tajikistan for 2024, a republican conference was held on the theme “World-class initiatives of the Leader of the Nation-a factor of unity and solidarity of mankind”, which was attended by industry specialists of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the conference, the head of the Glaciology Center, Rakhmonov R., made a presentation on the topic “Monitoring glaciers of Tajikistan” and emphasized that he considers the Republic of Tajikistan one of the leading Member countries of the United Nations in taking initiatives in the field of water and climate and playing a high role in organizing major international events that contribute to increasing the country's authority in the world the arena.
In particular, the resolutions of the UN General Assembly “International Year for the Protection of Glaciers” dated December 14, 2022 and “Decade of Action in the Field of Cryospheric Sciences for 2025-2034” dated August 13, 2024, aimed at strengthening national capacities and promoting sustainable development of the region, were emphasized.
