As part of the joint celebration of the first World Glacier Day and World Water Day, a high-level event was held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on March 20, 2025. The event was attended by representatives of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, headed by Agency Director Qurbonzoda Abdullo.
One of the key points of the event was the discussion of preparations for the High-level International Conference, which will be held in Dushanbe from May 29 to 31, 2025. The conference will focus on glacier conservation and their role in the sustainable management of water resources, as well as research on the impact of climate change on global ecosystems.
The event also highlighted the leadership demonstrated by Tajikistan in the field of glacier conservation and integrated approaches to addressing climate change and water resources.
This meeting became a platform for dialogue and action on the state of the world's glaciers and their impact on water security, communities and ecosystems.
