On March 20 of this year, the Agencies for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, held a scientific and practical conference on "Glacier conservation - the basis for ensuring water, food, energy and environmental security", dedicated to "2025 – International Year protection of glaciers" and "March 21 - International Glacier Conservation Day".
In her opening remarks, Baydullayeva. J.A., Deputy Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology, emphasized the global adoption of the initiatives of the Founder of Peace and national Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon in resolution 77 of the United Nations General Assembly "2025 - International Year of Glacier Protection", "March 21 - International Glacier Conservation Day, the creation of an international trust fund to contribute to the protection of glaciers, as well as the holding of an International Conference on Glacier Protection in Dushanbe.
At the conference, scientists and researchers in the field of glaciology and environmental protection of the Republic of Tajikistan and foreign countries made presentations on solving global problems of the planet: climate change, melting glaciers and lack of drinking water.
It should be noted that during the scientific and practical conference, industry experts from the Agency, ministries and departments of the Republic and foreign organizations addressed topics on the importance of Tajikistan's international initiatives in the field of water resources, climate and ecology, and particularly significant ones, the announcement of "2025 as the International Year of Glacier Protection", "The impact of climate Change on water resources of the Republic of Tajikistan", "Glacier Conservation – the basis for ensuring water, food, energy and environmental security" and "Monitoring, research, forecasting and capacity building in the field of glaciology".
