On November 10, 2025, a delegation from the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan took part in the official opening ceremony of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-30), which is being held in Belém, Brazil.
The Conference began under the chairmanship of Mukhtar Babayev, President of COP 29, Ambassador Andre Correa do Lago, President of COP 30, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and Simon Still, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
After the solemn part of the official opening ceremony of the Conference of the Parties, the meeting of the parties to the Kyoto Protocol and the meeting of the parties to the Paris Agreement began.
It should be noted that the opening of COP-30 highlights the importance of moving from the negotiation stage to the stage of practical action, since this conference is being held for the first time in the Amazon region, in Belém (Brazil).
The Conference mainly covers the following topics: "Global Assessment of the Paris Agreement implementation", "Climate finance", "Adaptation and sustainability mechanisms", "Damage and Loss Fund", "Carbon markets and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement", "Technological development and technology transfer", "Issues of inclusive participation".
The participation of the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan in the work of this Conference is of particular importance for promoting national interests in the field of sustainable development, adaptation to climate change, monitoring of water resources and attraction of climate finance.
The Republic of Tajikistan plans to actively participate in thematic meetings, bilateral meetings and multilateral negotiations, especially on water resources, sustainable mountain development, hydrometeorology, glaciology and cooperation within the framework of the Paris Agreement.
