On 19 December of the current year, a seminar entitled “The Process of Updating the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) 3.0 in the Republic of Tajikistan” was held with broad participation from representatives of ministries and government agencies, experts in water resources and climate, development partners, and civil society organizations.
The event was organized at the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology under the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The seminar was opened with welcoming remarks by the Deputy Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology, Mr. Abdullozoda U. S, and the Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ms. Lazima Onta-Bhat. In his speech, Mr. Abdullozoda highlighted the initiatives of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Mr. Emomali Rahmon, in the field of water resources and climate, which have received the support of the international community in accordance with resolutions of the UN General Assembly. He also emphasized the active and leading role of Tajikistan in advancing the water and climate agenda at the international level. In turn, the Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP, Ms. Lazima Onta-Bhat, emphasized the importance of women’s participation in decision-making processes related to climate change mitigation and disaster risk reduction.
It should be noted that the main objective of the event was to advace the process of updating the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) 3.0 in the Republic of Tajikistan through discussions of the NDC 3.0 roadmap
