Conducting a Training on Climate Aspects and Targets in the Republic of Tajikistan

On 29 January 2026, at the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology under the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Representation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Global Environment Facility, a training entitled “Climate Aspects and Targets in the Republic of Tajikistan: Climate Commitments and Efforts in this Direction” was held.

Representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, higher education institutions, and research institutes of the country participated in the training. During the event, a number of important issues related to climate change were discussed, including climate change challenges within the activities of the Agency for Hydrometeorology, reduction of climate risks and adaptation to them as key aspects of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), vulnerability of the population—especially women, children, and youth—to climate change, as well as the role of women in sustainable natural resource management.

At the conclusion of the training, a discussion and question-and-answer session took place, during which the importance of strengthening cooperation to fulfill the climate commitments of the Republic of Tajikistan was emphasized.
