TRAINING WORKSHOPS ON STRENGTHENING CAPACITY IN THE FIELD OF PREPARATION OF NATIONAL CLIMATE REPORTS

From 16 to 18 February 2026, at the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology under the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Representation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Global Environment Facility, training workshops were conducted on the topic:

“Strengthening capacity in the preparation of national reporting under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement: on science-based research, on the causes of anthropogenic impacts on the climate, taking into account guidelines with a gender-oriented approach.”

The trainings covered important issues related to climate change, including: “The role of the national greenhouse gas inventory system in monitoring the implementation of NDCs,” “Strengthening institutional capacity for the preparation of the Biennial Transparency Report: quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC),” “The role of gender integration in increasing the effectiveness of NDC implementation and ensuring transparency of climate actions,” “Implementation of the international climate commitments of the Republic of Tajikistan: progress and further steps,” and others.

Representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, higher education institutions, and research institutes of the republic took part in the trainings. Participants received detailed information on the obligations of the Republic of Tajikistan under the Paris Agreement and international requirements for the preparation of national climate reports, including the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions in the sectors “Energy,” “Industrial Processes and Product Use,” and “Waste.”

It should be noted that conducting such trainings contributes to strengthening national capacity, increasing the level of knowledge and professional skills of specialists, and facilitating the effective fulfillment of the international obligations of the Republic of Tajikistan in the field of climate change.
