Language, as one of the most important foundations of statehood, a key factor in preserving national identity, and a means of ensuring continuity between generations, holds a special place in the life of society. In recognition of its great importance, 5 October is annually celebrated in the Republic of Tajikistan as the Day of the State Language, with particular attention being devoted to the preservation, respect, and development of the Tajik language.
On 5 October 2026, a ceremonial gathering dedicated to the Day of the State Language of the Republic of Tajikistan, entitled “The State Language — A Foundation of Unity and National Self-Awareness,” was held at the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, with the participation of the Agency’s management and staff.
The event was opened by the Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology, Qurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo. In his remarks, he congratulated the Agency’s staff on the occasion of the Day of the State Language of the Republic of Tajikistan and emphasized that the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, consistently attaches paramount importance to preserving the purity of the language, observing literary norms, and ensuring its proper use in all spheres of public life. According to the Leader of the Nation, the development of the state language, enrichment of its vocabulary, and adaptation to the requirements of modern science and technology constitute an important responsibility of every patriotic citizen of the country.
As part of the event, Agency staff delivered presentations and remarks on the history of the formation and development of the Tajik language, its place in national culture, as well as the importance of preserving and further developing the state language.
A documentary film was also screened during the gathering, highlighting the historic achievements, outstanding contributions, and significant role of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, in strengthening national statehood, ensuring peace and stability and national unity, and promoting the sustainable development of the country’s social and economic sectors throughout the 35 years of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. The film highlighted the country’s significant achievements attained under the wise leadership and constructive policies of the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and generated considerable interest among the participants.
It should be noted that the organization of such events is of great importance for enhancing linguistic culture, strengthening respect for the mother tongue, and increasing staff members’ responsibility for the competent and proper use of the state language. Such initiatives contribute to the further development of linguistic culture and the creation of a favorable language environment within the workplace.
