Round table on the 6th IPCC Assessment Report on Climate Change

On September 22, 2022 year a "Round Table dedicated to the 6th Assessment Report of the IPCC (UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change)" was held, where key conclusions were discussed, within the framework of the recently released 6th Assessment Report of the IPCC.

The event is organized by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation and the German Agro Action in partnership with the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Swiss Development and Cooperation Authority (SDC).

Objectives:

• Raising awareness and using the results of the 6th IPCC Report on Climate Change in order to apply scientific research in the formation of climate and sustainable development policy in Tajikistan and the Central Asian region; 

• Discussion of Switzerland's experience in adaptation to climate change;

• Discussion of the results and recommendations of the IPCC Report for the CA region;

• Facilitating cross-sectoral discussion of national plans and priorities for addressing the effects of climate change: adaptation, sustainability and mitigation.

 Among the speakers was a presentation by Sattor Saidov, Head of the    Center for the Study of Climate and the Ozone Layer. Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The Round table is intended to bring together representatives of state and non-state structures: national agencies, donors, NGOs, the private sector and academia to raise awareness and use the results of the IPCC report in order to more effectively apply scientific research in the field of climate change in the formation of climate policy and sustainable development in Tajikistan and the Central Asian region, and will Facilitate cross-sectoral discussion of the regional results and recommendations of the IPCC report and adaptation actions.
