Nineteenth World Meteorological Congress

The 19th World Meteorological Congress is being held in Geneva (Switzerland) from May 22 to June 2, 2023. The World Meteorological Congress is the highest body of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), it is attended by 193 member countries from 6 WMO regional territories.

              Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the WMO, Focal point of the Republic to the UN Convention on Climate Change Qurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo takes part in the work of this congress.

              The goal of the 19th World Meteorological Congress is to develop a strategic plan for 2024-2027 in order to advance the prospects of WMO by 2030 to ensure the sustainability of all countries, especially the most vulnerable, in the socio-economic impact of extreme weather, climate, water and other environmental phenomena.

              The Congress also reviews the WMO budget and approves maximum expenditures for 2024-2027. It also addresses general, legal, supervisory, financial and administrative issues, as well as changes to general, technical, financial and labor guidelines.
