The Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the CIS (IHC CIS) was established on February 8, 1992 in accordance with the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Hydrometeorology to solve the problems of timely receipt and use of hydrometeorological information that is necessary for forecasting hydrometeorological processes, their impact on the environment, timely informing and warning management bodies and the public. 10 member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States take part in the work of the Council: the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as delegations of the World Meteorological Organization participate as observers in all sessions of the Council.
On September 27, 2023, the 34th session of the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the Commonwealth of Independent States (ICH CIS) was held in Baku (Azerbaijan). Nine National Services participated in the session. From the Republic of Tajikistan, the session was attended by the Director of the Agency for Hydrometeorology Qurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo and responsible specialists for working in "Working Groups" online.
The session was held in an active discussion of the adopted "Decisions" of the five-year work plan.
In accordance with the administrative documents of the session, Qurbonzoda Abdullo Habibullo was appointed Chairman of the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the CIS for the next period, who in his final speech thanked for the trust and offered to hold the next 35th session of the ICH CIS next year in the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, the proposed decision was adopted unanimously.
