Honoring and respecting national shrines and state symbols, including the national flag, is an integral part of civic responsibility of every person in society.
The national flag is a symbol of an independent state, a symbol of the union and society of the country and a source of inspiration of devoted people to their Motherland, for the sake of sustainability of independence and strengthening the foundations of national statehood.
The tradition of the flag of our people has a centuries-old history, where our glorious ancestors, as keepers of ancient culture and civilization, have come a long way to this shrine, symbolizing the statehood of Tajiks. It is noted in history that the ancestors of Tajiks owned the flag since ancient times, and in the ancient literature of the nation it is remembered as "Dirafsh". The first ancient Tajik flag was named "Dirafshi Koviyon".
The flag of the country, as a national symbol, has a special place in the history of statehood of Tajiks, according to historical sources this national tradition has more than 4000 years of history.
The founder of peace and national unity - the Leader of the nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Honorable Emomali Rahmon proudly stated the following about the history of the flag of the Tajik nation: "Even on the flag of Kurush Kabir was depicted an eagle - a symbol of strength and power, which is considered a symbol of the powerful state of that time. And the Dirafsh of the Great Kova is a clear sign of the struggle of our ancestors".
Therefore, honoring the national flag is considered a practice of statehood of Persian and Tajik peoples, where its protection and appreciation is aimed at the effort of every member of the society.
Fortunately, thanks to state independence, Tajiks have been given a national flag as an embodiment of a beautiful past and a bright future.
In November 1992, at the 16th session of the Supreme Council of Tajikistan, where the solution of the country's problems, the end of the internal war, the protection of state independence were discussed, along with taking necessary measures to ensure continuity and protection of the integrity of the country's values, the symbols of the first sovereign state, the Flag and later the Coat of Arms were adopted.
The founder of peace and national unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the esteemed Emomali Rahmon, as a sign of respect and devotion to our national flag, by his decree dated November 20, 2009, declared November 24 as the "Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan".
Thus, paying tribute to the national flag means respecting historical, cultural values, national spirituality and, in addition, it is respect for the nation, state and nationhood, along with the country's Constitution, national and state symbols and anthem.
Love and respect for the national flag should be present in the hearts of every decent and respectable person, proudly defending the state, in strengthening national independence and protecting its achievements.
Tribute to the national flag as a symbol of the independent Tajik state should be a historical mission, civic duty of every member of society.
I take this opportunity to congratulate my colleagues and all compatriots on the significant date of the "Day of the State Flag", which is a symbol of the independent state of Tajiks, I wish clear skies, peace, stability, security, tranquility and prosperity to our beloved homeland.
May the State Flag, as a symbol of statehood, pride, honor of the Tajik nation, will forever fly in the peaceful atmosphere of our country and inspire the process of creation and prosperity of our beloved Motherland Tajikistan.
