The Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in order to develop the field of hydrometeorology, carries out activities aimed at ensuring strategic goals – protecting the interests of the state and society from the effects of adverse natural phenomena, providing users with hydrometeorological data and monitoring environmental pollution.
The Agency for Hydrometeorology, within the framework of its activities, maintains mutually beneficial cooperation with the Aga Khan Habitat Agency (AKAN) in the Republic of Tajikistan. On the basis of this cooperation, from May 14 to 17 this year, a training course on “Geographic Information Systems – GIS“ was held for employees of the central office and state hydrometeorological networks, in which 25 employees participated.
During the training course, the specialists got acquainted with the methods of operation of GPS devices, Googel Earth and QGIS work programs designed for the preparation of meteorological maps, and improved their theoretical and practical knowledge.
