On May 21-22, 23-24, 28-29 and 30-31 of this year, the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Environmental Protection Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with the United Nations Development Program, with financial support from the UNDP Green Climate Fund, held vulnerability assessment seminars on three of the four priority sectors and the development of sectoral adaptation plans," which was attended by representatives of government agencies, international organizations working in the field of adaptation and climate change.
The purpose of the seminars is to collect the opinions of participants to complete the vulnerability assessment of the water, transport and agricultural sectors and prepare adaptation plans as part of the National Adaptation Planning process in Tajikistan, as well as to summarize the state of climate processes affecting the water, transport and agricultural sectors to assess vulnerability in ensuring a thorough and effective approach to adaptation measures in the context of climate change, which plays an important role in solving the country's food security related to the water sector, with an increase in cargo turnover in accordance with the growing potential of the country's economy, affecting the transportation sector and with most of the population engaged in agriculture exerting an impact on the agricultural sector.
At the same time, the participants were trained, enriched with knowledge on the development of measures to adapt key sectors to climate change and the exchange of experience.
