On 3-4 March the representative of the World Bank Ms Laura Sagnori Diniz visited the Agency for Hydrometeorology within the framework of the 'Modernization of Hydrometeorological Services in Central Asia, Component C' Project. The main purpose of this visit was to evaluate activities of the "Modernization of Hydrometeorological Services in Central Asia, Component C" Project.
On 3 March this year, the guests visited the Dakhana hydropost and Maykhura snow station, which were transferred to automatic mode in 2014 within the framework of the "Modernization of hydrometeorological services in Central Asia" Project.
The guests were provided with full information about the operation of the automatic stations, the achievements of the project during implementation: modernization, improvement of control, observation, reception and processing and sending of observation data.
On 4 March the guests were welcomed by the management and staff of the Agency and informed about the plans and achievements of the Agency on Hydrometeorology which are supported by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The guest delegation visited the Hydrometeorological Centre, Automatic Communication and Communication Centre, Small Meteorological Studio and other centers and departments.
During the bilateral meeting the leadership and specialists of the Agency expressed their opinion on the results of the above mentioned project, including the improvement of the level and quality of hydrometeorological forecasts within the framework of modernization of the state networks and provision of meteorological products to the population and relevant structures of the country at the necessary level. At the same time, they discussed the launch of the second phase of the project, training of specialists, procurement of hydrometeorological, agrometeorological and snow measurement equipment and construction of new automatic stations in remote parts of the country.
